Year 3

Autumn 2019

Meet the Year 3 Team.

Hi, my name is Miss Porter. This will be my third year teaching in Year 3 at Almond Hill and I am also in charge of History at the school. My favourite subjects to teach are history, maths, and PE

Hi, I am Mrs Osborne and this is my first full year at Almond Hill and my first year in Year 3 at this school. My favourite subject is Science, so I can’t wait to get started teaching the science topics! I am looking forward to lots of excellent learning in Year 3, but having some fun along the way. Bonjour! I aMy name is Mrs Osborne and I have the pleasure of teaching Year 3. I am really looking forward to meeting my new class and starting an exciting year of learning. One of my favourite subjects is Science and doing lots of interesting investigations.

My name is Miss Meek and I have been teaching for 5 years. I love to read a wide genre of books and enjoy using drama to make the stories come to life. My favourite subject is Science because there are so many exciting investigations to do which help us to find out more about the world. I love animals (dogs are my favourite) and I love to be outdoors enjoying nature.

My name is Mrs Barker, I have been a teaching assistant at Almond Hill for 5 years and enjoy working with children in all year groups and helping them enjoy their day.

Hello, my name is Mrs Johnson and I have been with Almond Hill for 8 months. I have 2 children and enjoy working creatively. I have a very positive outlook to learning, and am very much looking forward to seeing your children grow through the journey of Year 3

January 2019 - Spring Writing Project.

October 2018

Year Three have done some great learning this month and are fully settled in to their brand new school. We were fortunate enough to visit our local church, St Nicholas Church, to help our learning in RE.

The children went on their visit in their new classes and each class learnt something different. The focus of the visit was the signs and symbols in Christian places of worship, and we got given a tour and talk by John who is a member of the church. The children had a fantastic visit and the year three teachers really feel like this has really helped their understanding in RE.

September 2018

Year Three have had a very busy few weeks settling into their new classes.  We have continued the English work we started in July and have been writing adventure stories about Traction Man.  Traction Man went on lots of adventures, saving characters from different ‘Kitchen Enemies’!

In Art, we have been practising our pencil skills by drawing and refining self-portraits.   We then learned about abstract art and collage and had a go ourselves.

We have enjoyed getting into the routine of completing the Golden Mile and running or walking laps of the school field – we know we’re getting fitter as we’re getting more laps done!

The teachers would like to encourage the children to carry on playing TT Rockstars regularly on a laptop or tablet at home.  If your child has not yet got a login for this site, please see a member of the Year 3 team as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if you wish your child to have access to some maths games, please use the link below.  ‘Number bonds’ and ‘times tables’ are particularly good areas to practise.
