Year 5 trip to Leslie Sell

We have booked a day of activities, for our children in Year 5, to the Leslie Sell Activity Centre in Bedford, run by SSG Services, on Monday 19th June. The activities we have chosen are listed below;

Archery Tag - Participants will split into teams and compete in a fast-paced Archery Tag Challenge where they will gain points by ‘tagging’ their opponents by firing their bow and soft tailed arrows. Participants will have obstacles to hide behind and run between to avoid being tagged.

Slingshots with Inflatable Dart Board -Children will fire catapults using our awesome slingshot equipment to fire a range of projectiles through the air to hit a range of targets to achieve various challenges.

Spiders Web - The children will be carefully navigating their way through a giant spider’s web to avoid disturbing its residents. They will work together to establish the required skills and best route to make your way through the twisted web.

Toxic Waste - This unique problem solving task will really get the team thinking and using their initiative to a new level.

Giants Finger - This vertical challenge requires the team to work together on a strategy to fit the giants rings on the giant’s finger.

These activities will help develop problem solving skills and teamwork as well as resilience. They will also improve their outdoor adventurous activity skills in line with the national curriculum.

We will leave school at 8:30am and return at 4:30pm. Children will need to wear suitable clothing for outdoor activities and bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water with them. If your child is entitled to free school meals and you wish to order one for the day, please inform the school office by Wednesday 14th June.

We do need to ask for a contribution of £25 per child to cover the cost of transport and the activities. Please give your permission on School Gateway. We do appreciate that times are financially difficult for some families and balance this with parents expressing a keenness for children to go on school trips. If we do not receive enough voluntary contributions by Monday 1st May, we may have to cancel the trip.
