  • Recycling Assembly

    Published 30/04/26

We enjoyed a fantastic assembly on Monday all about recycling. We learned the difference between items that are classed as waste and those that can be recycled, helping the children better understand how they can make environmentally friendly choices.

The assembly also highlighted the summer's 'Design a Recycling Superhero' competition, which was especially exciting as one of our children won and had their design featured on a food waste collection vehicle!

It was an informative and enjoyable session, and the children were thoroughly engaged throughout. A big thank you to Claire from Stevenage Borough Council for visiting us and delivering such a brilliant assembly.

  • ECO Committee Update

    Published 17/04/26

Last term, the Eco Committee became nature investigators by researching mini ponds and why they are important for animals such as insects, frogs and birds. We explored what makes a good pond habitat, including the need for sunlight, shelter and a safe space for wildlife. We then carried out a survey of our local area to find the best possible location for our own mini pond, carefully considering where it could thrive.

We also discussed how to “cut our carbon” and the importance of eating less meat and reducing car fumes in our local environment. The children shared ideas about how walking, cycling or scooting to school can help improve air quality and keep our community healthier.

We also made bird feeders using recyclable materials, helping to reuse waste while caring for birds in our local area. The committee also created eye-catching posters to promote the Walk and Wheel Challenge, encouraging our wider school to make more environmentally friendly travel choices.

Over the summer term we are looking forward to planting and growing tomato plants to support healthy, home grown eating!
