Year 6 Crucial Crew

On the 11th June Year 6 visited the 'Crucial Crew Scheme' at the Lamex Stadium in Stevenage.
The scheme is organised by Hertfordshire local agencies such as the Police, Fire Service and Paramedics. The aim of the visit was to place children in mock up situations where they had the chance to discuss and 'act out' different responses with the support of professionals to guide their discussion. The children took part in a session held by paramedics where they learned how to deliver life saving skills such as positioning someone to clear their airways. The Transport Police highlighted the dangers of playing near or on the railways, the Police spoke about online stranger danger (e-safety) and knife crime and the Fire Service set up a hazard spotting exercise with the aim of reducing common fires that can happen in the home.
Pupil's reported that they found the sessions fun and useful and that they could see the value of the sessions in helping to keep them safe.
