Issue 34 - 12th June 2026
Dear Families
Given the recent weather, it is hard to believe that there are just over five weeks left of this academic year!
I know many of you will be starting to think about transition plans. We have taken feedback from previous years into account and will be sharing detailed information with parents well in advance of transition day. In the meantime, I would encourage Year 6 parents to ensure they are familiar with the arrangements made by their child’s secondary school.
We understand that circumstances can sometimes change and children may move schools. It is very important that families keep us informed of any such plans. If your child (not in Year 6) will be moving to a new school from September, please notify the school office as soon as possible.
There are many exciting events planned for the remainder of the term, including the Father’s Day Present Room next week, Ice Cream Fridays, various sporting events, the end‑of‑term Rocksteady Concert, and Year 6 leavers’ celebrations, to name just a few.
Fingers crossed the weather improves so we can fully enjoy everything planned!
Emma Fordham,
Headteacher
Key Messages
Thank You
A significant minority of children have struggled to meet the expectations of school in the last two weeks. Where this is the case, parents might be contacted by the class teacher or a member of the senior leadership team to help find a resolution. I wanted to say a huge thank you to parents who have responded so supportively. It makes such a difference when school and home work together. Children will make mistakes along the way and the important thing is to reflect, respond and move forward. I have been truly heart warmed by the emails and conversations I have had.
School Aims and Values
We are reviewing our school’s aims and values this term with staff, governors, parents, and children.
We would really value your input. Please take some time to read them and share any feedback you may have. In particular, we would welcome your thoughts on whether anything should be added, changed, or removed.
Frogs that Flip Charity Fundraising Event
The Frogs that Flip are excited to announce a fun event for their third pledge!
They will be hosting a “Guess the Member of Staff by Their Baby Photo” challenge, and there’s already lots of excitement building among the children. The purpose of school government events like this is to help pupils fulfil their commitment to raising money for charities, while having fun as a school community.
-
Cost to participate: 50p
-
Important: Only children who have paid will be able to take part.
More details will be shared very soon. Watch this space!
Thank you for Helping us to Refresh our Library
Last week, I told families about our desire to create a love of reading and shared our Amazon Wishlist of books to refresh our library. I am delighted to see parents have already bought books from our wishlist. These have been donated anonymously so I can’t thank you personally but please know we are incredibly grateful.
If you are able to, we would be very grateful if you could consider purchasing a book from the list to donate to the school. https://amzn.eu/00CgkZtS

Wraparound Care “Come and See” Session – Monday 22nd June
We are sharing the following information on behalf of Premier Education our Wraparound Care provider.
As they prepare for the new academic year, they are hosting a Wraparound Care “Come and See” session on Monday 22nd June.
This session will give families the opportunity to visit the provision, meet the team, learn more about the activities on offer and ask any questions they may have.
The visit will be led by a member of the Wraparound Care team, with small groups of parents attending at different times throughout the after-school club session. Each visit will be allocated a short time slot.
Please see the attached poster for further details. This invitation is open to families of children currently attending the school, as well as those who will be joining in September.
If you have any questions, please refer to the contact details on the poster.

Year 6 Graduation
We are in the process of planning for graduation and we would like to ask for your help!
If possible, please could you send in a photo (digitally) of your child either as a baby or toddler/younger child before they came to Almond Hill. This is not a necessity but would be nice. If you want your child to be included in this, please send your photo in by Tuesday 30th June. By sending the photo in, we will take this as consent for using for the purpose of graduation.
Please send photos to year6@almondhill.herts.sch.uk and use 'baby photo' as the subject.
There are still some families who have not yet booked tickets for graduation. Please log on to the Arbor App to order your tickets. As previously mentioned, spaces are limited to 3 per family. The booking will close at 12.00pm on Friday 26th June. Please book your places to enable us to plan the space in the hall.
Tuesday 14th July – 6S
Wednesday 15th July – 6C
Thursday 16th July - 6W
We would also like to ask if any children have any of the following we can borrow for a few weeks. It is for part of the graduation video. Think summer holidays!

- Inflatables
- Plastic cups and jazzy straws

SEND and Pastoral Drop Ins
Thursday 18th June 4.00-5.00pm - Tune into ASD
Following feedback from parents this session has been planned outside of the school day.
We are extremely fortunate to have representatives from a range of organisations joining us at our SEND and Pastoral drop in sessions. These sessions provide an invaluable opportunity for parents to speak directly with professionals who are often parents of neurodivergent children themselves. We would strongly encourage parents to attend these drop ins if you feel they would be of benefit to you or your child.
Tune in to ASD: ‘Tune into ASD is a service with passionate, driven and dedicated facilitators, consultants, coaches, support staff and volunteers who have a desire to see Neurodivergent children, young people and adults thrive in every area of their lives. We aim to increase understanding of the Autistic spectrum and other Neurodivergent conditions, support and equip families, educators, businesses and charities to provide inclusive environments which gives access to all areas of learning and improve the wellbeing for all. We also support Neurodivergent adults discover how to live successful lives.’ https://tuneintoasd.com/

FOAH Update...
The Father's Day Present Room will take place during the school day on Thursday 18th June. On that day, the children can choose a secret present for the important men in their life (Dads, Stepdads, Grandads, Uncles, Carers, and so on). There’s no limit to the number of gifts you can buy per child. Each gift is then brought home at collection time in an individual sealed giftbag that can be hidden at home, ready to give on Father's Day!
Things to remember about this fun event:
-
Please tell your child for whom they are choosing gifts before the day itself, so they can pick suitable presents.
-
Only Almond Hill children can attend, but children can choose gifts on behalf of siblings not at the school.
-
Although there is no limit to the number of gifts you can buy, Arbor will only allow you to purchase 9 at a time. If you would like to buy more than 9, you will need to do separate transactions.
-
Cash payments will be accepted on the day of the present room if needs be, but we would be grateful if payments could be made in advance on Arbor, as this enables us to plan ahead and make sure there are enough gifts for every child taking part.
-
All funds raised will go towards equipment and events that enhance the children’s school experience. If you have any questions, please reach out to the FOAH team. Our email is: foah@almondhill.herts.sch.uk
We hope the children enjoy choosing special gifts!
