Clean Air Day 2026

Last month we were raising awareness about 'Healthier Air Month' in Hertfordshire and more specifically, 'Clean Air Day' which was on the 18th June. In school, the children have enjoyed reading 'Auntie Duck' a thought-provoking clean air story which follows Auntie Duck as she visits her nephew, sharing her experiences flying through poor-quality air. The story teaches simple ways to reduce pollution and help protect our planet.

Here is a photograph of 4W in our beautiful outdoor area - just next to our bird hide where we enjoy watching nature in our school grounds. Look carefully and you can also see our ECO schools flag flying proudly in the background! After reading the story we learnt more about Clean Air Day and the small actions we can take to protect our planet! Our school Eco Committee are planning to action this further by completing a traffic survey outside of our school grounds and further spread the word about engine idling and eco-friendly ways to travel to and from school.

Shout out to Reggie in Year 5 who shared his half term eco-friendly adventures with us promoting fun, active journeys, keeping fit and healthy. Well done!
