Issue 18 - 23rd January 2026
Dear Families,
It has been a much quieter week in school this week but it was lovely to see so many of our Year 3 families in school this week for parents’ evening.
Year 4 will take part in a mental health and wellbeing workshop next week which focuses on healthy eating, positive body image and understanding mental health. Each session includes age-appropriate discussions and hands-on activities, followed by fun physical exercises that show how movement supports wellbeing. The workshops are interactive and engaging, helping children develop positive attitudes and healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
As part of their science studies in Year 5, as we did last spring, we will be welcoming a delivery from The Happy Chick Co. on Monday. This comprises of an incubator and eggs, giving the children the opportunity to see the stages of the eggs hatching. Once hatched, the chicks will stay with us and be cared for by the children until they will be collected by the provider and rehomed. We are really looking forward to the updates! A gentle reminder to Year 5 parents - if you haven’t already, we would be grateful if you could make a contribution of £3.17 towards the cost. Please make payments on Arbor under Trips. Thank you for your support.
Year 6 have been invited to Thomas Alleyne Academy to watch their whole school production of ‘We Will Rock You!’ on Monday. It is always such a privilege to be invited to these events and the children are really looking forward to it.
Have a good weekend.

Headteacher

Event Cost Round Up
We understand that with the current cost of living crisis, many of our parents are facing challenges or finding things more difficult than usual. We are committed to ensuring that no child misses out on school experiences due to financial difficulties. To help ease the burden, we offer preloved uniform sales, book sales and we also fund or subsidise events ourselves.
We thought it would be helpful to provide parents with advance notice of some of the planned events for the year to assist with budgeting and planning. Below, you’ll find a table of events organised by year group. Additional fundraising events may be arranged throughout the year by our school government (once elected), FOAH, or charities, but participation in these will always be optional. 4
If cost ever becomes a barrier for your child to take part in school events, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Wright, who will be happy to explore available support in strict confidence.
Year 4 MTC Parent Workshop
We would like to warmly invite you to join us for a parent session focused on Maths and Times Tables, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about how we support your child in school and how you can help at home.
As the children will have completed their second Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) during the week commencing 19th January, this is a great time to find out more about what the MTC involves and how it supports their learning.
During the session, we will:
-
Explain what the MTC is and what it means for your child
-
Share information about Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) and ways parents can support practice at home
-
Show TTRS in action and demonstrate how it’s used in school
-
Give parents the chance to watch their child take part in an arena battle
-
Offer the opportunity (for those who wish!) to try a practice MTC alongside your child
-
Introduce some exciting new initiatives launching this Spring Term, including our new ‘Gone Green’ approach and badge system
We hope the sessions will be both informative and enjoyable and we would love for you to come along and take part.

9.00-10.30 - Thursday 5th February - 4W

Afternoon tea: Friday 20th March

We welcome all parents to attend (whether your child has a diagnosis or not) if they feel they would benefit from speaking to our SENCo and/or our pastoral team. In our experience, almost all children benefit from pastoral support during their journey at school. Examples of where this has been supportive in the past are when friendship issues arise, loss of a pet, online issues outside of school, family break up and bereavement. We are always delighted when more parents join us.
We are delighted to let you know will have Kitty Butterworth, a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner from the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust joining us on 10th February.

STEM - LEGO Affinity Water Workshops (5P and 6C)
This week, 6C and 5P were lucky enough to take part in a Lego workshop led by Affinity Water. We enjoyed working together to build Lego robots which we then programmed to carry out water saving challenges. It was great fun to learn some coding and then see our robots moving.
A message from Zoe:
